Karensa Tjoa is a first-year student in the MD/PhD program. She graduated from UC Berkeley in 2019 with a degree in Molecular and Cell Biology and then worked at UCSF conducting research in acute myeloid leukemia before coming to Pittsburgh. In medical school, she has enjoyed volunteering with the Hugh Lane Wellness Foundation and Oncology Pals at Children’s Hospital. She hopes to pursue a career as a physician-scientist in pediatric neuro-oncology.
