Shannon Cason is a third-year medical student at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. She is originally from Ellicott City, Maryland. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in cognitive science and Spanish from the University of Virginia. She is professionally interested in OB/GYN with a focus on complex family planning, LGBTQ+ health, and adolescent medicine. At the university, she previously was one of the coordinators for the OBGYN interest group and MSPA as well as completed the Schweitzer fellowship during her second year. She currently does research in pelvic floor anatomy and creating school staff training to support LGBTQ+ adolescents. Outside of academics, she is a proud plant mom that can be found at any lifting or yoga class around the city.
