Dechen Xie 

John C. Mascaro Scholar, MCSI Summer Undergraduate Research 

Dechen Xie is a rising third-year engineering student at the University of Pittsburgh. He grew up in Shanghai, China, and spent his first two years of college at Sichuan University, China. He is currently researching the application of frugal engineering in information systems. He hopes to pursue a career as an industrial engineer in engineering consulting and industry. His hobbies include playing piano, photography, and badminton. 

Dechen’s summer research focuses on Climate Inventory and Targets in the UPMC healthcare system. He will work closely with Kate Zettl, Director of Energy and Environmental Engineering in the UPMC Center for Sustainability.
